Princess Profile

Princess Cruises

Princess Cruises first set sail in 1965 with a single ship cruising to Mexico.

The 1977 television show, “The Love Boat”, catapulted Princess Cruises to stardom. The Pacific Princess was cast in a starring role. The show is still seen around the world and is credited with fueling the dramatic expansion of the cruise industry.

Today, Princess is the third largest cruise line in the world. Princess ship’s programs and dining experiences appeal to cruisers from families with children to senior cruisers plus accessible cruisers. Princess’ Horizon Food Court, Pastry Court and exceptional customer service has attracted a loyal following of repeat cruisers.

From cruising to Mexico, Princess now offers cruisers more than 150 different itineraries. Travelers can sail the globe. 3 day to 100+ day cruises visit more than 300 ports and worldwide destinations. The destinations include the Caribbean, Alaska, Europe, Mexico, South America, Australia, South Pacific, Hawaii, Asia, India, Africa and Canada/New England.

Cruising attire is casual sportswear. This includes shorts, lightweight pants and jogging suits while at sea and in hotter climates. Wear a sweater, a jacket or an all-weather coat for cool evenings and cool destinations. You’ll also want comfortable shoes for strolling on deck.

For evening dining, keep with what you wear to a nice restaurant. This includes skirts/dresses, slacks, and sweaters for ladies, pants and open-neck shirts for men. Cruises five days or longer include at least one formal dining night. Evening gowns and cocktail dresses for ladies and tuxedos, dinner jackets or dark suits for men are recommended.

A gratuity is a commonly asked question. Princess will automatically add a gratuity to your shipboard account on a daily basis. The daily gratuity amounts are:

  • $15.50 per guest for suites
  • $14.50 per guest for mini-suites and club class
  • $13.50 per guest for interior, ocean view, and balcony staterooms

This gratuity will be shared amongst those staff that provide and support your cruise experience. The staff includes wait staff, stateroom stewards, buffet stewards, and housekeeping staff across the fleet. A 15% gratuity is added to bar charges and dining room wine accounts.
